冯友兰和华兹生《庄子》英语节译本的翻译风格对比研究——基于语料库统计与分析

摘　　要：本文采用语料库分析法,以冯友兰和华兹生《庄子·内篇》七章英译内容作为研究对象,从词汇、句子、语篇三个维度对比分析两个译本的翻1译语言特征,揭示两个译本翻译语言特征的异同,以及译者身份与文化背景对译文翻译风格的影响。研究发现:(1)两部作品均存在厚翻译现象,通过补充解释,显现原文隐含的语义逻辑和文化内涵,彰显了两位译者的主体性。(2)冯译本偏向使用异化的翻译策略,以音译+解释为主要翻译方法;而华译本注重传达原文信息内容,以意译+直译为主要翻译策略。(3)译文风格受到译者身份和文化背景的影响。哲学家兼文化传播者的中国译者冯友兰对《庄子》哲思理解更为深入,注重保持中国古代哲学的异质性;西方译者华兹生着重提升译文可读性,扩大受众群体,在英语世界传播东方智慧。This paper analyzes the linguistic features and translation styles of the English versions of Zhuangzi:Inner Chapters by Feng Youlan and Burton Watson,using a corpus-based approach to examine words,sentences,and discourse.The aim is to uncover the similarities and differences in the linguistic features of the two translations and examine the impact of the translators’identities and cultural backgrounds on their translation styles.The research findings are as follows:(1)Both translations exhibit instances of thick translation,which provide additional explanations to reveal the implicit semantic logic and cultural connotations of the original text,highlighting the subjectivity of the translators.(2)Feng tends to employ a foreignization strategy,primarily using transliteration and explanations,while Watson focuses on conveying the information of the original text using a strategy of free translation and literal translation.(3)The translation style is influenced by the translators’identities and cultural backgrounds.Feng Youlan,a philosopher and cultural communicator from China,has a deeper understanding of the philosophical thoughts in Zhuangzi and tends to preserve the heterogeneity of ancient Chinese philosophy.In contrast,the Western translator,Watson,focuses on enhancing the readability of the translation to expand its audience,thus disseminating Eastern wisdom in the English-speaking world.
