摘  要:作家与批评家之争一直是学界热门话题。二战后,批评家几近“寄主”地位,两者难分伯仲。当代英国学院派小说家布雷德伯里深谙作家与批评家的复杂关系,视两者为“一对奇特的伴侣”,并通过学院派小说《向西行》阐述了作家与批评家共同体构建的三个阶段:1)误解与偏见:根深蒂固的歧视和敌意;2)对话与互助:从彼此对立到理解互助;3)赏识与共融:作家本我与批评家超我的融合。结论指出《向西行》超越了作家与批评家间的二元对立,致力于作家与批评家共同体构建,有助于促进两者的对话交流与互促互进。The competition between writers and critics has always been a hot debate in academia.After World War II,critics were almost in a“host”position,and the two were evenly matched.Bradbury is well aware of the complex relationship between writers and critics and regards the two as“a strange pair of companions”.Through the academic novel Stepping Westward,he elaborates on the three stages involved in building the community of writers and critics:first,misunderstandings and biases:the deep-rooted discrimination and hostility;second,dialogue and mutual assistance:from mutual opposition to understanding and mutual-assistant;third,appreciation and integration:the integration of the writer s id and the critic s superego.The construction of the community of writers and critics is conducive to the dialogue,cooperation,and mutual promotion and progress between the two.
