With China’s entry into an aging society, the importance of education for the elderly has become increasingly prominent. In the face of such a large learning group,in order to meet their learning needs,it is summarized that elderly learners have the characteristics of autonomous learning, rich experience, individual differentiation, and high sense of identity. The above characteristics echo the importance of specific experience in Cooper‘s’learning circle theory.Cooper‘s’“learning circle theory”holds that making full use of past experience to observe and reflect on and summarize experience in the learning process has a great role in promoting learners. The four steps of concrete experience, observation and reflection, abstract concept and practice test in his theory correspond to the connotation of elderly education one by one.By using the‘learning circle theory’,we can explore the practical application of elderly education.Starting from the overall characteristics and practical needs of elderly learners,we can improve the teaching and research of elderly education by setting up specific situations, transforming direct experience, starting to master knowledge, respecting individual differences and carrying out innovative teaching methods such as organizational learning.
