摘 要:本文从句法复杂度视角对中译外国家翻译实践英译文本进行计量分析,考察中华学术外译文本的句法特征。研究发现,与原创学术文本相比,中译外学术英译文本在8个指标上的值更低,表现出简化特征,在另外6个指标上的值更高,表现出复杂化特征。研究表明,翻译中确实存在句法简化现象,并且倾向于发生在语义或句法关系更为复杂的语言结构上,而复杂化则倾向于发生在语义或句法关系不太复杂的语言结构上。鉴于此,对于学术文本中译外国家翻译实践而言,应在句法复杂度上与原创学术文本相当,既不过于简化,也不过于复杂化,操作起来就是在语义或句法关系较为复杂的语言结构上避免简化倾向,在语义或句法关系较为简单的语言结构上避免复杂化倾向。The present study conducts a quantitative analysis of the English translations in the context of state translation programs translated from Chinese into foreign languages from the perspective of syntactic complexity,with a focus on the syntactic features of the English translated texts of Chinese academic works.The research finds that the English translated texts of Chinese acade-mic works have lower values than their non-translated counterparts on 8 of 14 widely accepted indices of syntactic complexity,showing a feature of simplification,with higher values on the rest 6 indices,showing a feature of complexification.The study reveals that simplification at the sentence level does exist and tends to occur at indices related to linguistic structures or units with more complex semantic or syntactic relationships.In contrast,complexification tends to occur at indices related to linguistic structures or units with less complex relationships.In view of this,for the translation of academic texts from Chinese into foreign languages sponsored by the state translation programs,it is essential to maintain a level of syntactic complexity that is on par with native academic texts.This means neither oversimplifying nor overly complicating the structure.In practical terms,this involves avoiding a tendency to simplify in language structures with more complex semantic or syntactic relationships,and avoiding a ten-dency to complicate in language structures with simpler semantic or syntactic relationships.
