摘 要:逆向工程是后发企业技术学习的重要手段,但是过度依赖逆向工程亦会导致企业陷入“低端仿制”的陷阱,难以实现创新突破,甚至造成企业之间的恶性竞争,阻碍产业转型升级。目前关于逆向工程与突破性创新之间关系的研究相对较少且未成定论。为了回答逆向工程如何以及在什么条件下影响企业的突破性创新,基于知识创造理论,构建了一个理论模型来考察逆向工程如何通过知识创造实现突破性创新,以及在不同制度环境条件下逆向工程作用的变化。通过对515家中国制造业企业的调查数据进行实证分析,结果表明逆向工程通过知识创造正向影响企业突破性创新。根据有调节的中介模型检验发现,不同制度环境因素对上述中介路径有差异的调节作用,政府支持加强了逆向工程对知识创造的正向影响,而经济政策不确定性削弱了逆向工程对知识创造的正向影响。This study aims to investigate the dynamic relationship between reverse engineering and breakthrough innovation within late-developing firms.Recognized as a vital tool for technological learning,reverse engineering provides a pathway for firms lacking advanced technology to acquire and internalize external knowledge.However,over-reliance on reverse engineering can limit firms'innovation potential,potentially leading them into a"low-end imitation"trap that hinders technological progress and competitive advancement.This research seeks to understand how firms can utilize reverse engineering to achieve breakthrough innovation and the specific conditions under which it contributes to substantial innovative outcomes.The study focuses on the mediating role of knowledge creation and the moderating effects of different institutional environments.This study is based on knowledge creation theory and constructs a theoretical model to explore how reverse engineering fosters breakthrough innovation through knowledge creation.The model further incorporates institutional environment factors,specifically government support and economic policy uncertainty,to reveal how external conditions influence the innovation potential of reverse engineering.Using survey data from a representative sample of 515 Chinese manufacturing firms of varying sizes,industries,and regions,the study employs multiple regression and moderated mediation analysis to validate the mediating role of knowledge creation and assess the moderating effects of institutional factors on the relationship between reverse engineering and innovation.The empirical findings reveal a positive association between reverse engineering and firm-level breakthrough innovation,mediated by knowledge creation processes.Results indicate that firms engaging in reverse engineering tend to achieve innovative outcomes by converting externally sourced knowledge into internally generated insights,facilitating breakthrough innovations.Furthermore,the findings show that the institutional enviro
