Film and television as an important carrier of cross-cultural communication, its high-quality translation helps foreign audiences to better understand film and television works and achieve good communication effects. The translation of film and television works involves not only language problems, but also cultural problems. The translation and reconstruction of cultural images often become the focus and difficulty of film and television translation. From the perspective of American linguist Nida's theory of functional equivalence in Translation, this paper selects representative cases of such works as The Last Emperor, Ne Zha, Legend of Zhen Huan and Sherlock to analyze and propose that cross-cultural communication of films and television should be based on the uniqueness of film and television translations, aiming at different types of cultural images. Different translation modes and strategies such as direct translation, integration and domestication are flexibly adopted to highlight the characteristics of Chinese culture, overcome the cultural barriers in communication, and realize the aesthetic re-creation of cross-cultural communication of film and television.
