“明明德”新释及其对学校领导者修为的启迪

摘　　要：“明明德”是《四书》首篇《大学》最为重要的概念之一,对其重新诠释能够发现它蕴藏四方面的含义,即“明德”是光明之德,是天命之性,打开“明德”的路径关键在“诚”,而实现“明明德”的进路则在尽性。“明明德”对提升当今学校领导者修为有多方面的启迪。学校领导者要淬炼德性、激发潜能、转变方法、树立理想,在敞开自我“明德性”和助力他人彰显“明德性”的实践中,不断增进自身的修为。“Ming ming de”(or manifesting one’s bright virtue)is an important concept in The Great Learning from The Four Books(namely,four Confucian classics).Based on our modern interpretation,the concept of“ming ming de”involves four key points:1)“ming de”(or,bright virtue)refers to fairness and decency(esp.in leadership);2)“ming de”is something we are all born with;3)“ming ming de”just means“being honest”to recognize and embrace our true nature;4)for the purpose of“ming ming de”,we need to thoroughly explore and fully understand human nature.The concept of“ming ming de”has many implications for school leadership development.School leaders need to develop their virtuous nature and achieve self-cultivation via manifesting their own bright virtue and helping others manifest theirs at the same time.
