摘 要:术语是工程技术交流的基本语言单位,是ESP词汇教学的重要组成部分。本研究以机械工程英语教学为例,围绕“查询术语家谱”“掌握术语变体的功能”“探究命名的理据”和“解析术语的概念”等四个术语教学方法来推进ESP词汇教学的深度。研究者认为术语学习有助于培养ESP学习者的语言能力、篇章能力和社会文化能力,推动ESP教学目的的达成。其中,“查询术语家谱”能够帮助学习者通过在线查阅进行专业知识和语言知识的自我建构;“掌握术语变体的功能”关注术语变体的使用形态和功能,能够提高ESP学习者的阅读和写作能力;“探究命名的理据”有助于培养学习者的语言能力和社会文化能力,实现专业知识准确、得体地传递;而“解析术语的概念”抓住“语言知识”和“工程知识”的融合点,通过术语概念的对比,有效提升学习者的社会文化能力。With mechanical engineering English teaching as an example,the authol suggests that four task-based teaching methods,i.e.,searching for terminology genealogy,studying term variants'functions,analyzing term concepts,and exploring term naming rationale,should be employed by the ESP teachers to cultivate the linguistic,discourse and socio-cultural competences of the students.The method of searching for terminology genealogy helps learners enrich their specialized and linguistic knowledge by scanning information on the Internet.The method of studying functions of terminological variants focuses on the respective functions of the term variants,the study of which can improve the learners'reading and writing skills.Exploring naming rationale of terminology helps to develop the linguistic and sociocultural competence of ESP learners to communicate accurately and appropriately.By integrating both specialized and linguistic knowledge,the method of analyzing term concepts helps improve the socio-cultural competence of the learners by means of careful comparison of term concepts.
