摘　　要：论述了英语语言能力是21世纪大学生必备的素质。为了提高学生语言能力,必需启动学生学习英语的深层动机,调动学生学习兴趣。英语教学要体现学生是教育的主体,教师要由单纯的教向教与导转化。发掘教材中先进文化和思想,培养学生具有较高的文化素质和思想道德品质。This paper discusses the language competence is the quality which 21st century college students should have.In order to improve college students' language competence, the learning motivation needs to be stimulated and the learning interest ought to be aroused. In the course of English teaching, students should be considered as main part, so it is high time the exclusive lecture was converted into the favorable combination of lecture with guidance,by which we can explore the adcanced culture and mentality from the concerned texts and develop college students into ones with high cultural and ideological and moral qualities.
