摘 要:在当前日益迅速的全球化与文化融合的背景下,翻译者们应本着尊重和保存各民族文化的精神,积极推动文化多样性与多元性。本文通过对中国古典名著《红楼梦》中某些诗词翻译的对比研究,探讨了如何在翻译中保存和向国外读者介绍中国文化的问题。《红楼梦》的两位译者,杨宪益与霍克斯,本着不同的翻译目的,在其翻译中分别采用了以异化为主和以归化为主的翻译策略,杨采用了更多的语义翻译和文本翻译,而霍克斯则采用了更多的交际翻译和工具翻译。本文的研究认为异化策略在保存源语文化特色和传播源语文化遗产方面可能更为有效。With an unprecedented quick speed of globalization and cultural integration, maintaining diversification & multiculturalism-oriented ethnical cultures becomes all the more indispensable in translation. Translating of Chinese classics should inevitably be observant of this principle. Through a comparative study of cultural information translation of poems in the classical Chinese novel, Honglou Meng, the present article attempts to answer the question as to how to maintain the source language cultural peculiarity in translation. The research findings reveal that Yang adopted a more semantic, documentary and source language & culture-oriented translation in order to preserve and introduce Chinese cultural heritage, while Hawkes adopted a more communicative, instrumental and target language & culture-oriented translation with a purpose of pleasing the target reader. Finally the co-authors conclude that the strategy of foreignization works better for effectively preserving and dissimilating the source language cultural peculiarity and heritage to the target reader.
