Study on the Current Situation of English Teaching for Tourism Management Majors in Undergraduate Universities—Taking Universities in Shaanxi as an Example

摘  要:具备英语听说能力是旅游管理专业学生毕业后从事国际旅游业务的必要条件。本研究选取了陕西省所有旅游管理专业的本科院校,随机访谈了四所学校的一些师生,考察了这些高校旅游管理专业英语教学现状,以及教师和学生对专业英语的认知。访谈结果表明,学生迫切需要提高专业英语的实践应用能力。教师承认英语听说能力的重要性,但在教学中并没有注重听说能力的培养。建议全方位加强学生听说能力的培养,更好地帮助学生学好英语语言技能,以满足未来工作的要求。The ability to listen and speak English is necessary for tourism management students to engage in international tourism business after graduation. This study selected four undergraduate universities of tourism management in Shaanxi Province, and randomly interviewed some teachers and students of these four schools. The current situation of professional English teaching in tourism management in these colleges was inspected, as well as the cognition of professional English by teachers and students. The results of the interview show that students urgently need to improve the practical application ability of professional English. Teachers acknowledge the importance of listening and speaking ability in English, but do not pay attention to the cultivation of listening and speaking ability in teaching. It is suggested that colleges should strengthen the cultivation of students' listening and speaking ability in an all-round way, and better help students learn English language skills to meet the requirements of future jobs.
