摘  要:ChatGPT问世后凭借强大的内容生成和情景理解能力在教育界和学术界引起极大反响。本研究介绍了ChatGPT在教学中的研究现状,分析了其在英语教学中的应用潜能和潜在问题。ChatGPT可通过提供语言环境、及时反馈、个性化辅助、文化背景知识、自我评估等辅助学生的英语学习;但也可能存在以下问题:交流方式单一、提示语要求高、知识灌输和依赖、扩大数字鸿沟等。若要将其作为学生的私人英语顾问,应做到以下几点:提高可及性、提高师生信息素养、丰富使用方式、培养学生“问商”、培养学生批判性思维,做到扬长避短。Generative pre-trained transformer (ChatGPT), with its outstanding capabilities in understanding and generating contextual contents, has attracted the attention of educational and academic com-munities. This study briefly introduces current research on ChatGPT in teaching and analyzes the possibilities of applying ChatGPT to English teaching, as well as potential issues. ChatGPT can facili-tate English learning by providing a language environment, prompt feedback, personalized tutor-ship, cultural background information, and self-assessment. Potential problems can also emerge, such as a single interaction method, demanding instructions on inputs, knowledge cramming and over-reliance, and widening of digital gaps. To optimize ChatGPT, it is necessary to enhance its ac-cessibility, improve information literacy, enrich its interaction methods, as well as cultivate stu-dents’ “Questioning Quotient” and critical thinking abilities.
