摘　　要：语篇的衔接与连贯是语篇研究的核心。主述位理论又是研究语篇衔接与连贯的一大功能系统。本文拟通过对主述位理论的描述和四、六级作文评分参考卷的实例分析 ,说明主位推进模式、语义衔接及英语写作连贯之间的关系 。Cohesion and coherence of discourse is one of the major subjects in the research of discourse. The theory of theme and rheme is an important functional system where cohesion and coherence of discourse is studied. The paper is intended to illustrate the relationships among the mode of theme and rheme, cohesion and coherence, and English writing,by describing the theory of theme and rheme and by analyzing the sample test of CET-4/6. And the paper also elucidates the effect on teaching practice produced by the mode of theme and rheme.
