摘  要:本文以模糊限制语为切入点,调查分析了英语课堂中教师对模糊限制语的使用情况。本文从语用的角度结合礼貌原则及面子理论,针对变动型和缓和型两类模糊限制语进行了分析讨论。结果表明在英语课堂教学中恰当的运用模糊限制语,使教师的课堂语言更为礼貌,对于维护和协调言语交际双方的人际关系,达到会话目的,推动课堂教学,从而激发学生的学习兴趣,实现有效课堂教学都起着重要作用。This paper is based on an investigation of English teacher’s use of hedges in classes in a key provincial university. The results show that teachers used two kinds of hedges in classes, namely, approximators and shields. Accounted for by politeness principle and face threat act, teacher’s adoption of hedges in teaching is for various reasons: to make teacher’s language more polite; to maintain the interpersonal relationship between teacher and students in their interactions; to facilitate the classes; to motivate students’interest and to realize effective teaching.
