摘　　要：以问卷调查的形式,对嘉兴学院非英语专业学生英语学习情况作了一个较为全面的了解。调查结果表明,学生学习英语的动力主要是为了通过四六级考试,以此增加寻找工作的砝码;学生普遍希望自己经过大学阶段学习后英语水平有较大提高,尤其希望能进行流利的交流;学生希望教师以讨论和互动的教学方式代替"满堂灌"等。文章在分析的基础上,对目前大学英语教学提出了一些改进建议。This paper makes a survey on the English learning situations of the non - English majors in Jiaxing university by means of questionare. The major findings are as follows ： The key motivation of their English study is to pass the CET - 4 or CET - 6, and to lay the foundations for their careers. They all hope to improve their English greatly in the four college years, especially their oral English. The students hope that teachers will teach the lessons by means of class discussion and interactivity instead of the traditional ways. After analyzing the results, the paper proposes several suggestions for improving College English teaching.
