摘　　要：隐喻意象图式的可逆性导致了语言中的某些矛盾现象。中英文语言中存在的这些可逆的意象图式,既有共性,又有个性,其中的差异,在语言的使用中得到了表现。对于可逆性图式的研究,有助于我们进一步揭示语言的认知规律。Based on time metaphor and container metaphor both in English and Chinese, this thesis proves the reversibility of image schema with many examples. The reversibility can explain some paradoxical phenomena in language. The paradoxical phenomena have both commonness and individuality in English and Chinese. The differences can also be noticed in use of language. The study of the reversibility of image schema can help us discover the cognitive rules of language more than before.
