There are countless tragic love stories in Greek mythology while the destiny of Echo and Narcissus has its special meaning in revealing the voice' s value in phenomenology. "Voice" is the proof of existence of "subject" and "voice" gains its meaning only when it is heard. Narcissus, who has no words and Echo, who can only echo others' words, both lose "voices". The inter - subjectivity, which shows itself in the mutual process of "saying" and "listening", is the foundation of a "dialogue". Echo and Narcissus, who have lost the foundation, lose each other forever.
