文化翻译中的“调和兼容”--哈金非母语文学创作对中译外的启示

摘　　要：由于故事题材的中国文化背景,哈金的英语小说创作折射出鲜明的中国色彩,是一种用英语表达中国社会文化的努力,与中国小说英译不无相似之处。不同文化之间不是相互排斥,而是可以互补,不是相互抵触,而是可以调和兼容。语言作为文化的载体,也是在相互调和、相互包容中不断丰富发展。哈金英语小说创作的成功表明,"异质性"不仅不会影响英语国家读者对作品的理解,相反,这种差异为英语增添了新鲜的外域元素。Ha Jin＇s English fiction is characteristic of successful representation of the ＂Chineseness＂ in English due to the Chinese context of his story. It is an experience of writing Chinese stories in the English language, similar to English translation of Chinese fiction. The collision between different languages and cultures should not be regarded as always antagonistic but might well be conducive to harmonious coexistence, which, in Ha Jin＇s case, is expressed in the form of a hybrid text. Ha Jin＇s success proves that the ＂othemess＂, or the ＂Chineseness＂ in this ease, by no means hinders understanding and acceptance, but rather helps to enrich the English language.
