摘　　要：美国终身教职制是当今世界居主流地位的大学人事制度。中国高等教育的教师制度改革如要学习终身教职制度,有必要澄清其现实危机、历史演变与民族性问题,继而考虑对于中国高等教育的适用性。The tenure system of American universities is the main form of university faculty employment in the world.If this system is to be borrowed into China＇s university teacher employment system,it is necessary to review the present crisis,historical development and racial issues of the American tenure system in order to determine its suitability to China＇s higher education.
