Public English Teaching and the Rational Re-employment of Translation Method

摘  要:20世纪80年代以来,交际法逐步取代翻译教学法,得到我国外语教学界的大力推崇。但是实践证明,交际法因为非英语专业学生的英语基础差异太大而收效甚微,因而出现了翻译法教学的理性回归。回归后的翻译法以传统的翻译法为基础,又吸收了交际法的合理因素,在公共英语教学中效果显著。Since the 1980s,communicative approach,which is welcomed by our foreign language teaching profession,has gradually replaced translation method.But it turned out that the communicative approach bore little fruits as a result of non-English-major learners' uneven English competence.So the change took place from the communicative approach back to grammar-translation method.It should be noted that the re-employed translation method is not only based on the traditional translation method,also integrates the positive elements of communicative approach,therefore it can effectively enhance learners' language learning competence.
