摘　　要：ESP(English for Special Purpose)指从事某种工作或职业所使用的英语。CBI(Content-based Instruction)是基于内容的语言教学理念,基本思想是通过在内容学习中对语言的使用来习得语言。CBI教学模式对于促进学科知识的增长,提高学生学习外语的动机等方面都有显著的成效。调查研究表明CBI模式对于改进ESP教学,提高ESP教学的实效性具有重要指导价值。ESP（English for Special Purpose） refers to English used by some kind of job or career.CBI（Content-based Instruction） is a content-based language teaching philosophy.Its basic idea is to acquire language competence through learning the content by using the language.CBI teaching model has significant results in promoting the growth of subject knowledge and improving the motivation of students learning a foreign language.Research shows that CBI model has important guiding value for the improvement of ESP teaching and the effectiveness of ESP teaching.
