方位词“上、下”的英汉对比研究

摘　　要：隐喻并不仅仅是一种语言现象,它更重要的是一种思维方式和认知工具。文章通过对比汉语与英语中相应的空间方位词"上、下",对其隐喻拓展意义进行探讨,从而使学习者能够系统地了解给他们带来困惑的非方位意义的方位词多义项之间的关系。Metaphor is not only a figure of speech, but is a way of thanking and a tool of learning. This article compares the orientational words： up and down in English with the corresponding words in Chinese on the basis of the studies of the pioneers, and try to show the deep meanings of these words in English culture and Chinese one from the perspective of cognitive linguistics for the aim of showing learners the relationship among the puzzling metaphorical meanings of up and down to improve students＇ ability of understanding and using language.
