摘 要:荀子既"法先王",又"法后王",此一问题学界已有深入的研究,本文即试图在梳理此一相关研究的基础上,引入"历史意识"概念,以期阐发荀子"先王"、"后王"之说所可能蕴含的意义。文章着重分析了荀子"天地始者,今日是也"、"百王之法不同"等言说所包含的可能解释,认为"先王"、"后王"之争的本质乃在于"如何保存先王之道"。The issue that Xun Zi not only follows the model of former kings but also follows that of later king,has been discussed in depth in academia.After consulting much related research,this paper attempts to introduce the concept of "historical ideas" in order to elucidate the possible implications of Xun Zi's doctrine.It focuses on the explanations such as "the beginning of Heaven and Earth is the present," "the models are not identical for a hundred kings." It argues that the essence of the dispute about former kings and later kings lies in the problem of how to retain the ways of former kings.
