摘　　要：21世纪是一个经济全球化的时代,各行各业需要既懂得专业技能又懂得英语知识的国际化人才。高职院校正是培养社会所需的从事技术、生产、管理、服务等领域高素质的技能人才。但是目前高职院校公共英语教学情况有待进一步改进,必须将英语教学和专业教学有机结合,加强通用英语和专门用途英语教学,这样才能肩负起培养社会所需的高素质应用型国际化技能人才的重任。Since the 21st century is an era of economic globalization,all walks of life need international talents who know both professional skills and English.The purpose of higher vocational education is to train the applied and specialized talents who meet the needs of the forefront of technology,production,management and service.However,the English teaching in vocational colleges leaves too much to be desired.English teaching should be combined with professional knowledge.Therefore,vocational colleges must strengthen both EGP and ESP teaching and learning so as to shoulder the responsibility of fostering high-quality practical talents.
