建构“外宣翻译”英译名:术语学视角

摘　　要："外宣翻译"的英文表达是翻译研究中一个颇具争议的话题。从术语学视角出发明确"外宣"的英文表达,需要面对两个关键问题:第一,两个名称所承载的概念是否相同或相似,即二者代指关系的可行性问题;第二,这一代指行为能否满足某种社会需要,即二者代指关系的必要性问题。运用术语学的研究方法解决上述问题,可以得出"Public Diplomacy Translation"是"外宣翻译"的理想英译名。The English version for Wai Xuan Fan Yi has been causing much controversy,with the focus on how to name Wai Xuan in English. To tackle the problem,it is valuable to suggest from the perspective of terminology that Public Diplomacy could substitute for Wai Xuan. However,the supposition meanwhile arouses two puzzles,i. e.whether the conceptions of the two names are the same or similar and whether the substitution can meet some social need. If they are solved with terminology as a method,the suggestion can be accepted. Hence,Wai Xuan Fan Yi corresponds to Public Diplomacy Translation.
