摘　　要：阿瑟·韦利(Arthur Waley)是20世纪上半叶英国最杰出的汉学家、翻译家之一,毕生从事着中国古典文学的译介工作。作为犹太人的他在英国的"他者"身份和"他者"眼光、拉格比公学和剑桥大学给予他的良好语言和文学教育、大英博物馆的理想的工作环境和优秀的工作伙伴使得他成为了一个理想的中国文学的传播者和阐释者。Arthur Waley is one of the greatest British sinologists and translators in the first half of 20th century. His Jewish identity-the ＂other＂ in English community and his insight as the ＂other＂, the highly disciplined training of Rugby and Cambridge, and his working experiences in the British Museum contrib-ute to making him an ideal transmitter and interpreter of classical Chinese literature.
