摘  要:傅兰雅一生致力于西学教育和传播,本文探析了他的教育思想与办学理念。"推广格致"、"广布西学于中国"是他教育思想的立足点和中心内容。他通过创办学校,构设了近代教育制度;通过编辑教科书、出版科技期刊来推广西学;通过引进成人教育、特殊教育等,丰富了近代中国的办学模式。傅兰雅对中国自古以来狭隘的封建教育体制所作的改革尝试影响深远。John Fryer devoted his whole life to the introduction and dissemination of western science education into China. This thesis aims at his educational thoughts and concept of school administration. "To study nature of things" and "to introduce western science into China" are the foothold and core of John Fryer's educational thoughts. He constructed modern education system by establishing schools, promoted western science by compiling textbooks and publications, and enriched China's modern school administration by introducing a- dult education and characteristic education. John Fryer has a tremendous influence on China's efforts to reform its narrowminded feudalistic education system since ancient history.
