摘 要:朱子学在英语世界的最早研究始于马礼逊和米怜主编的《印中搜闻》,其中关于朱子及其著述的译介和评述,以概念阐释、体系简介、片段翻译或引用为主要方式,间或也在中西互照的视野下发表一些读书心得式的评论,总体上看不够深入,但从理论概念入手寻找和论证理学与基督教并非互为异己文化而有其相通之处的做法,超越了此前欧洲汉学独尊上古儒学、批驳排斥宋儒理学的传统。《印中搜闻》世俗性与宗教性兼具的办刊特色使其关于朱子学的译介、评论具有面向大众传播的特点和效果,在中国经典,特别是朱子学西传过程中具有重要的意义。The earliest studies on Zhuism in the English-speaking world begins with The Indo-Chinese Gleaner edited by Robert Morrison and William Milne in which translations and commentaries on Zhu Xi and his works are carried out mainly by interpreting concepts,introducing the system and translating frag-ments,sometimes by publishing commentaries with a contrast of the Chinese and Western views.Though it is not deep enough from the whole,but it has transcended the tradition,which the ancient Confucianism dominates the European Sinology,by looking for theoretical concepts and expounding that Neo-Confucian-ism and Christianity are not mutually alien culture but have something in common.Translations and re-views in The Indo-Chinese Gleaner featuring both secular and religious,which gains a lot of popularity,is of great significance in Chinese classics especially in the westward of Zhuism.
