学以致用:再谈大学英语教学目标的定位与实现

摘　　要：本文在一项中国外语教育传统实证研究发现的基础上,重新解读了"学以致用"的具体内涵,提出"学以致用"是目前及未来相当长一段时间内我国大学英语教学的合理目标。在完成对大学英语教学目标的分析性解读后,本文还尝试性地提出了我国英语教学的阶段性目标和任务,指出只有在人才培养的总目标及阶段性目标的共同指导下,大学英语教学实践才有可能取得良好的效果。Based on findings from an empirical study on the Chinese tradition of foreign language education, this paper reexamines the basic concept of Learning for Its Application （LIA）. It points out that LIA will be a ration- al goal for College English teaching for a relatively long period of time in China. Following a reconceptualization of LIA, the paper attempts to put forward the objectives to be achieved at different stages of basic education and sug- gests that only by a joint effort at all levels of education to realize its respective objectives can we achieve the desired efficiency in language teaching at the tertiary level.
