As a vital part of literature, foreign children' s literature works play an irreplaceable role in broadening children' s cross - cul- tural horizon, arousing their interests in foreign literature works. In the process of reading and appreciating translated works, children can be subtly influenced in the aspect of their language, emotion, ideology and morality. However, the study of children' s literature translation is at the edge of the field of literature translation. The theories do not match well with the practices. Traditional theories focus more on works themselves or translators' subjectivity, neglecting the fact that children are greatly affected by their physiological cogni- tion, individual mental characteristics and aesthetic standards. Their special cognition has impacts on the understanding and absorption of the text. Readers' Response Theory, put forward by Eugene Nida, claims that the translated work should make target readers have the same response as that of original readers. It insists that readers are the center of translation. From the perspective of children, the paper analyzes the important role of children in the translating process from three aspects of language cognition, cultural acceptance and value judgment. At last, according to the theory, the author summarizes some useful translation methods for children's literature translation.
