摘 要:在大学英语教育的课程设置中,写作一直放在较为次要的位置。大学英语写作课程至今都没有一部清晰的指导纲要。课程教学目标、实施手段都比较模糊。教师究竟在教翻译还是在教写作技能?本文认为国内教师大部分不具备母语语感,英语的使用凭借的是后天习得的二语语感。而写作牵涉灵感,语感等因素,仅凭一点二语语感是不可能独立写作的,这时只能是用母语语感构思,将之译为目标语。这是一种普遍现象,也是在中国这样一个英语的二语学习环境中不能改变的现象。那么写作教学的本质就应该是让学生用自己的母语尽量模仿英语母语者的写作构思方式,然后正确地把自己的母语翻译成英语。抓住了实质,大学英语写作的本质面貌就清晰显现。Writing has often been set inferior to other subjects in college curriculum in China. More importantly, there is no clear guide to College English Writing courses whose teaching object and teaching measure are both quite vague. The problems to be discussed in this essay will be as follows: 1. what is the core of College English Writing as a course? 2. What is the real purpose of College English Writing: Translation or Writing Skill? In order to solve those problems, this essay insists that the majority of Chinese English Teachers do not have native language sense so that they cannot teach English writing like native people, much less can their students write English articles like native speakers. In fact, Chinese English learners begin their writing with translating their mother languages and this is proved by an interview conducted by the author. Therefore, the core of College English Writing is to teach students how to translate their language into English and the purpose is to ask the students to try their best to imitate the native writing rather than create by themselves.
