摘　　要：在多模态符号学视角下,图像、文字、声音、动态影像等均具有意义表达的潜势,不同模态和交际媒介的选择与设计都是为了意义表征和交际。社会实践的多媒体化和社会文化系统的多模态化影响和推动教育的改革与创新。设计是多元识读教学的重要概念,任何符号活动都是设计行为。运用多模态符号学理论,针对大学生运动员进行英语教学设计,最大程度地激发学生融入型学习动机,提高英语教学效果。This paper is set to design English teaching and learning for college athlete students under the guidance of multimodal semiotics.Under the framework of multimodal semiotics,language and non-linguistic modes,like image,colour and music etc.,function in the communication and contribute equally to meaning.People orchestrate meaning through the selection and design of modes and media.Multimediality and multimodality in social practice have pushed education reform forward.Design is the fundamental concept in New London Groups pedagogy of multiliteracies.Any semiotic activity is treated as a matter of design.
