盲人摸象给翻译的启示

摘　　要：文章从翻译单位的分析开始,指出各自的优缺点,译者在翻译活动中不应该选择单一的翻译单位,而应该根据情况,综合使用多种翻译单位进行翻译。文章对翻译研究是否应该纳入语言学范畴,以及翻译文艺学派和语言学派长期争执的问题进行了分析,指出两者的争执就像盲人摸象一样,二者摸到的仅是翻译中的两个部分,而非翻译的全貌,因此,应该搁置争议,共同为翻译活动而服务。最后,文章对翻译活动进行分析,认为翻译活动是按照猎取——摄入——消化吸收——遗传和变异的方式进行,其中在吸收过程中,有归化吸收和异化吸收两种,译者采取哪种吸收方式,决定译者选择的因素,译者选择可能导致的后果,以及遗传和变异所带来的不同结果等。所有的翻译探索都像盲人摸象一般,它们从不同的角度,摸到了翻译的某个部分,虽然不是翻译的全部,但它让我们知道了翻译的某个部分是什么样子的,有利于我们清晰地认识翻译。This article starts from the analysis of translation units, pointing out each of their advantages and disadvantages, and the translator should not choose a single translation unit in translation, but should be translated by the integrated use of multiple translation units which based on its real situation. This article analyzes whether translation studies should be included in linguistics, and the long disputes between literary school and linguistic school, pointing out their disputes as Six Blind Men and an Elephant＂ take a part for the whole＂, both of them only explored one part of translation, rather than the panorama of translation. Therefore, we should set aside disputes and seeking common ground of translation activities and serve its use. Finally, the article analyzes the activity of translation, believes that translation takes the process as hunt intake--digestion and absorption heredity and variation as its way, where there are two kinds of absorption, domestication and alienation in the absorption process, but what kind of absorption the transla- tors choose is based on the choosing Factors, and what kind of consequences it may result from, as well as the different results arising from heredity and variation, etc. All of the exploration in translations are in general like Six Blind Men and an Elephant＂ake a part for the whole＂, they explore a certain part of the translation from a different angle, rather than the whole picture of the translation. However, it lets us know what of a certain part of the translation is like, which helps us clear understand of the translation.
