从翻译规范到译者惯习:描写翻译研究的新发展  

How Translation Norm Is Related to Translator's Habitus:A Sociological Perspective

摘　　要：翻译规范与译者惯习是翻译社会学研究视域中的两个核心概念。本文通过分析翻译规范与译者惯习的源起、本质特征及其在翻译场域内的功能,研究翻译规范与译者惯习对翻译活动中社会结构与个体参与者之间的多层关系的解释力,探究译者惯习对描写翻译研究的新发展。研究指出,译者惯习与翻译规范互为因果,互相推动彼此的形成;译者惯习内化翻译规范,推动翻译场域的动态运作;译者惯习补足了翻译规范对个体研究的欠缺;译者惯习的自省特性是对翻译规范的修正和发展。厘清翻译规范与译者惯习的相互关系及相互作用,有助于准确理解翻译活动的根本属性。Taking a close look at the genesis of norm and habitus, two of the core concepts in sociological studies of translation, this paper identif ies their essential characteristics and functional roles, exploring the explanatory power they possess in dealing with the multi-layered and interactive relations between social structure and individual agents in socially regulated translation activities. Among the f indings of this new study are: that translator's habitus and translation norm constitute and affect each other and, together, they shape up the dynamics of the translation field; that norm is internalized in the formation of habitus; and that the notion of habitus, with its built-in reflexivity, supplements and complements that of the norm, helping to overcome the latter's inadequacy as an explanation for individual choices in the process of translation and thus to make the latter a more objectively and scientifically driven interpretive tool.
