English loan words usage in Japanese language has often been the core of attention in many researches over a decade.Japan is considered a conservative traditional country. However,Japan opens its gates to other cultures from around the world, leading to changes in social and linguistic aspects. The named changes in social and lingual aspects of contemporary Japan do not only affect the political and economic aspects, but also affect the daily life communication style of the Japanese people. In consequence thereof, the pros and cons of English loan words usage in Japanese language become the topic of research debate. The usage of English loan words in Japanese language and Japanese language identity presentation when facing people from different countries and different cultures, creates a conflict within the Japanese society. On one hand, using English loan words may lead to the feeling that the Japanese language identity has disappeared. On the other hand, the usage of English loan words in Japanese language, enables the Japanese speakers to better express themselves by omitting the boundaries related to the Japanese language structure. This paper examines the frequency usage of English loan words in the Japanese language and the linguistic identification indicators in the communication between Japanese and non-Japanese speakers.
