关于后葛瑞汉时代文本分析的反思

摘  要:葛瑞汉以其独创的文本分析、优雅的译文、精彩的推理以及哲学的视域和洞见闻名于学界。在葛瑞汉离世之后的后葛瑞汉时代,学者们在进行中文文本分析时,同葛瑞汉一样,普遍存在着四个基本的无意识的假设:一、可供研究的文本等同于古代文献的全部;二、合理的推断比残缺的历史文献记载更可靠;三、历史文本或记录要么可信,要么摒弃;四、样本可作为综合判断的证据。这些在文本分析中的无意识的假设,被最近的考古发现证明多是无效的。因此,有必要从方法论的角度,在能够获得新的知识和参照的情况下予以重新反思和检视。A.C Graham,a British sinologist,was known for his original textual analyses,elegant translations,brilliant speculations,and his philosophical vision.In the era since Graham the great master left us,scholars commonly have four basic unconscious assumptions in their practice of Chinese textual analysis just like Graham.These four unconscious assumptions are:The texts we have available for study are the whole body of ancient literature;Sound reasoning and speculation are more reliable than imperfect historical literature and records;A historical text or record must be either reliable or discarded;Samples used as evidence for general judgments.These unconscious assumptions in textual analysis have been proved to be largely invalid by recent archaeological findings.Therefore,it is necessary for us to reflect and reexamine them from the perspective of methodology especially when new knowledge and references made available.
