摘 要:本文从Martin和White的评价理论出发,以鲁迅所著的《药》和莱尔的英译本为例,研究译者在评价资源翻译过程中的再创造情况。分析发现,译文通过删除、转换和增加三种方式对原文的评价意义进行了再创造。在对原文评价资源的删除中,译文的评价意义有所丢失;在评价资源的转换中,译者进行跨类转换,将原文的评价资源均转换为情感资源,更侧重描述人物情感;通过增加评价资源,译者对文学作品的人物和主题进行符合目标语受众阅读习惯的描述,降低目标语读者的阅读障碍。Based on Martin and White’s appraisal theory,this paper studies the recreation of the evaluative meaning in Lyell’s translation of Lu Xun’s Medicine.It has been found that the translator recreates appraisal resources of the source text in three ways:deletion,transformation and addition.Deletion of the evaluative meaning in the English version of Lu Xun’s Medicine leads to the partial loss of the original evaluative meaning.During transformation of the evaluative meaning,the translator makes the transformation across subsystems by changing the evaluative resources of the source text into the resources of affection in the target text,by which the translator more stresses the description of the characters’ emotions.To reduce the reading obstacles of target readers,the translator adds some evaluative resources to adjust descriptions of the characters and the theme in the target text.
