摘　　要：简介1815-1897年在世的苏格兰汉学家理雅各(James Legge)的生平及其在汉语典籍翻译上的巨大成就,特别介绍了他的《孟子》译本Mencius,通过这个译本跟另一个译本的对比,探讨其长处和不足。This paper gives a brief account of the life of James Legge(1815—1897),a sinologist in Scotland,and his significant achievements in translating Chinese classics,especially his translation of Mencius.The strengths and weaknesses of this translation are also discussed by comparing it with another version of translation.
