The Aesthetic Propositional Significance of the “Supporting Verse” from the Chapter Entitled Vigorous Style in The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons

摘　　要：《文心雕龙》50篇,篇篇有“赞”,而且体式相同,都是四言八句的韵语。这也是对刘勰《文心雕龙》中的“颂赞”篇所作界定的印证。“赞”作为文体的功能,并非是称赞之义,而是如刘勰的训释“明也,助也”,也即阐明与补充正文之义。因而,《文心雕龙》之赞是对其各篇内容的升华,并且提出了很多重要的美学命题。中国古代美学命题研究,是目前学术界有待于开展的研究范式,它的词语凝练、意向鲜明等特点,在《文心雕龙》的赞语中得到突出的呈现。《风骨》作为《文心雕龙》创作论中的重要篇章,其意涵虽给人以强烈的印象,但有很多歧解所在。从不同的角度,学者们对“风骨”这个重要的美学范畴作出了不同的阐释。作为对于全篇的说明与提升,《风骨》赞为我们提供了独特的理解视角与阐释路径。《风骨》赞所提出的美学命题,前此的龙学家们并未加以关注和阐发,而其自身的蕴涵,却是把握《风骨》篇的深层意义的专有“钥匙”。对《风骨》之赞提出的若干美学命题加以诠解,由此及观《风骨》在中国文论史和美学史上的特殊意蕴,并可以展示命题在美学思想史上的特殊功能。There are fifty chapters in The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons(《文心雕龙》),each of which has a supporting verse(赞)with the same four-character and eight-sentence format.This is also the confirmation by Liu Xie(刘勰)in his definition of“supporting verse”from the chapter entitled Lauding Verse(颂赞)in The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons.As a stylistic function,“supporting verse”is not in the sense of“praising”,but means“clarifying”(明)and“supporting”(助).As Liu Xie annotated,it acts as the elaboration and supplement of the main text.Therefore,each supporting verses in The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons is the sublimation of its respective chapter’s content,and puts forward many important aesthetic propositions.The propositional study on ancient Chinese aesthetics is a research paradigm to be carried out in the current academic circles.Its concise wording and distinct intention are prominently presented in the supporting verses of The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons.The chapter entitled Vigorous Style(风骨)forms an important part in the creation theory of The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons.The connotation of“vigorous style”gives people a strong impression,but people understand it in many different ways.From various perspectives,scholars have made different interpretations of the important aesthetic category of“vigorous style”.As the explanation and promotion of the whole chapter,the supporting verse of Vigorous Style provides us with a unique perspective and an interpretation path.The aesthetic propositions put forward by the supporting verse of Vigorous Style haven’t been paid attention to or elucidated by the previous scholars on the study of The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons(龙学家),but its own connotation is the exclusive“key”to grasping the profound meaning of Vigorous Style.Through the interpretation of some aesthetic propositions put forward by the supporting verse of Vigorous Style,we can look
