摘 要:中国古典诗词是中华优秀传统文化的集大成者,集中体现了中国古代劳动人民的智慧,是研究中华民族生产、生活、政治、经济和文化的有效载体。做好汉诗英译工作有利于向世界展示中华文化。汉英两种语言迥异,分属不同语系。作为一种重要的文学体裁,汉英诗歌更是各有特点。使汉诗英译符合英语诗歌标准,译者在翻译过程中必然会遭遇原作和译作在语言、文学和文化三个层面上的矛盾。诗歌翻译程度是有限的,翻译过程中“音”“形”“意”的损失不可避免。文本以古诗《墨梅》英译为案例,深入剖析了诗歌翻译中的“意失”“仪失”“诣失”与“艺失”。汉诗英译要正视这些易失问题,尽可能减少易失,才能更利于中国古典诗词在英语世界的传播,为中华文化“走出去”做贡献。Chinese poetry,an epitome of the traditional Chinese culture,is an effective carrier for the study of the life,politics and economy of the Chinese nation,manifesting the wisdom of the ancient Chinese people.A good translation of Chinese poetry into English is conducive to the manifestation of the culture and the wisdom of Chinese people as well as their philosophical understanding of the world.Coming from different families,Chinese and English are widely diverse.As an important genre of literature,poetry of either language manifests itself in its unique way.To be coincident with the rules of poetry in the target language,it is a primary concern of translators to clear the barriers resulting from the difference of language,poetical conventions and cultural contexts in both original and translation.Poetry translation can never be fully accomplished.Neither meaning nor manner can survive in the process of translation.Losses in sound is also inevitable.Based on the case study of C-E translation of Ink Plum Blossom,an ancient Chinese poem,the paper explores the losses in sense,in form,in the effect to achieve and in being a work of art as much as the translated versions are concerned.Only by minimizing these losses can the prevalence of poetry in the target culture be promoted.
