摘 要:该文基于形象学理论框架,将形象放在观察首位,对比分析莫言《生死疲劳》中文化形象和艺术想象的塑造及其在英译本中的再现。该文主要基于文本内部分析,以主人公西门闹及转世的动物形象为主要基点,从道德情节和审美情节层面分析《生死疲劳》中“善”与“美”形象在英译版本中的再现与重构。形象学主要观察形象对于翻译活动的影响,该文基于这一角度,结合葛浩文翻译特点,对比分析其英译本Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out中“善”与“美”形象的再现与重构,分析发现,多重身份赋予译者理解原文文化内涵的能力,译者常采用增译和具体化策略弥补文化障碍,并以地道的英文传达给目标读者。Based on the theoretical framework of imagology,this paper takes image as the primary observation factor in translation research,comparing and analyzing the shaping of traditional cultural image and artistic imagination in Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out and its translation.This paper is mainly based on the textual analysis.Taking the hero Ximen Nao and his reincarnation of animal images as the main basis point,this paper analyzes the image building of"kindness"and"beauty"in this book from the level of moral plot and aesthetic plot.Imagology mainly observes the influence of images on translation activities.Based on this perspective,combined with the characteristics of Howard Goldblatt's translation,this paper analyzes the reproduction and reconstruction of"kindness"and"beauty"images in Life and Death Are Wearing Me Out.The analysis shows that multiple identities give the translator the ability to understand the cultural connotation of the original text.The translator often adopts the strategies of addition and explicitation to make up for the cultural barriers,and convey them to the target readers in authentic English.
