英美高校外语类专业的式微:思考与启示

摘　　要：近20年来,人文学科在英美等国表现出日渐式微之势。由于招生人数下降和财政压力加大,英美高校纷纷撤销外语类专业,外语人才的供给和需求形成一个“怪圈”,与国家语言能力建设之间的矛盾日渐突出。本文对英美高校外语类专业在过去近20年中的调整进行梳理,在探讨全球高等外语教育变革趋势的基础上,结合我国特色外语教育改革发展面临的历史方位与形势挑战,从国家外语能力建设、分类发展、专业知识体系构建等方面对我国外语专业的优化调整提出建议。The past two decades has witnessed a marked decline of the Humanities in Anglophone nations.An increasing number of foreign language programs have been closed due to declining enrollment and financial woes,while the demand for languages other than English is becoming greater,presenting great challenges to the national language capacity of these countries.This article reviews what is happening to language programs in the US,the UK,and Australia,and suggestions are made for the ongoing foreign language program reform in China in terms of national language capacity,restructuration of language programs,and reshaping of thecurriculum.
