隐喻性动词的形象功能及其翻译

摘　　要：通过对隐喻动词的分析和研究可知 ,英语有些动词当应用于其通常的语境之外时便具有了隐喻的功能。这类隐喻性动词不仅折射出隽永的寓意 ,而且创造出生动的形象。在科技英语文体中 ,这类动词并不少见 ,其生动形象的应用不仅使抽象、难懂的科学思想和概念或技术过程和方法变得通俗易懂 ,而且极大地丰富了科技英语的文体特征。本文以科技英语文体为基础 ,探讨和分析隐喻性动词的形象及功能 ,并尝试提出隐喻形象翻译的几种方法。It can be seen from an analysis and study of metaphorical verbs that some English verbs, when used outside their usual contexts, become metaphorically functional. Such verbs not only refract pregnant implied meaning but also create vivid imagery. In scientific English style, metaphorical verbs are not uncommon, and their vivid imagery enriches the stylistical features of scientific English as well as renders abstract, obscure scientific ideas and concepts or technical processes and methods popular and easily intelligible. This paper, on the basis of the corpora of scientific English, explores and analyzes the imagery these verbs reflect and their functions, and presents some possible translation methods.
