摘　　要：国家教委高等专科英语教材编审组编写的系列教材《实用英语》的推广使用,给专科英语教学带来了新的挑战和机遇。在这种形势下,要想实现《普通高等专科学校英语课程教学基本要求》规定的教学目的,必须改进教学方法,努力提高学生的英语应用能力。With the textbook 'Practical English' being widely used, English teaching in junior colleges is faced with new challenge as well as new opportunity. In order to reach the teaching goal stipulated in the 'Basic Requirement', the current teaching method has to be improved while effort should be made to develop the students' competence of applying English.
