论汉语四字格在英译汉过程中的应用

摘　　要：中国四字格,又称四字格结构,是中国人的一种表达形式,具有很强的语言特点。四字格的组成主要有四字习语和四字常用短语两大类。四个字格将一定的语义信息以其特有的形式表达出来,同时又带有中国传统文化的浓厚色彩。翻译本身也是一个传递信息的过程,所以,如果能将一些中文四字格恰当地运用在英译汉的过程中,将原文的语言效果以特有的特色传达出来,就能潜移默化地向目标读者传递出富有内涵的中文特色语言。本文将从不同类别的文本入手,探讨四字格在英译汉过程中的适用性。The Chinese Four-Character Phrase, also known as the four-character structure, is a form of expres-sion for the Chinese people, possessing strong linguistic characteristics. Comprising four-character idioms and commonly used phrases, this structure expresses certain semantic information in a unique form while carrying a profound undertone of traditional Chinese culture. Translation itself is an information transmission process. Thus, if some Chinese four-character phrases can be appro-priately applied in the English to Chinese translation process, the original language’s effect can be conveyed with distinctive characteristics, subtly imparting rich and profound Chinese language features to the target readers. This paper explores the applicability of four-character phrases in the process of English to Chinese translation by examining different categories of texts.
