摘　　要：准确地理解和翻译习语是英语学习中的一个重要问题 ,也是一个难点问题。在翻译中要保证英语中比喻意义在汉语译文中的准确表达 ,并要掌握好习语的可译性限度。Idioms are essence of a language with vivid images and colorful meanings. It is very important to understand and master the English idioms appropriately that will not only enhance our ability to use English but also help to improve our knowledge of western culture. The author discusses the sources of English idioms, analyzes their semantic characteristics and puts forward some techniques methods in translating English idioms them into Chinese. The author also discusses the translatability of the English idioms.
