摘　　要：首先概述系统功能语言学的语域理论,然后运用此理论从语场、语旨、语式三方面分析了IELTS考试的信函写作。最后讨论了该理论对英语写作教学的巨大的指导意义。Mter presenting Register Theory, the paper makes attempts to apply the theory to analyzing 3 IELTS writing tasks from the perspective of the three variables of situational context： field, tenor and mode. Finally it discusses its great pedagogical implications of the theory in teaching English writing.
