摘　　要：语篇衔接是话语修辞学的重要内容,英汉两种语言在这一方面最显著的一个区别就是形合和意合的不同。汉译英时,要先分析语篇的功能、意义,才能确定语篇的结构、形式;英译汉时,要先分析语篇的结构、形式,才能确定语篇的功能、意义。Textual cohesion is an important part of discourse rhetoric. It is in textual cohesion that hypotactic English and paratactic Chinese form a sharp contrast. In English-Chinese translation the structure of a text can be determined only through analysis of its function, whereas in Chinese-English translation the function of a text is revealed through analysis of its structure.
