摘　　要：公示语是国家的名片、城市的脸孔。公示语翻译非同小可,应该引起足够重视。针对国内公示语翻译的严峻局面,在重新界定公示语的基础上,探讨指导公示语实际翻译操作的原则。文章认为公示语翻译应该坚持以文本类型决定翻译策略这一主要原则,另外辅之以语境制约原则。The public sign acts as a name card of a country, and a face of city. We should attach a great importance to its translation. Considering its severe translation situation in our country, the paper first offers a redefinition for it, and then explores the principles for its translating from Chinese into English. The author holds the view that translating strategy is decided by the text types. We should adhere to this as the main principle. Moreover, the context restricted principle, also owning its importance, may take a role as the secondary principle.
