摘　　要：认知语言学从一个全新的视角和高度理解和阐释隐喻,将隐喻提升为人类的一种认知方式和推理机制。隐喻本质上是将一事物的特征映射到另一事物中去,是基于相似性由源域向目标域的映射过程。由于汉英民族文化和思维的异同,作为思维表达工具的隐喻也折射出两个民族的认知共性和差异。隐喻翻译是一种跨文化的认知活动,本质上是源语篇章到目的语篇章的映射。隐喻翻译应以认知为取向,以语用等效为原则,根据源语的隐喻化过程采取异化和归化策略,以使源语中的隐喻形象得到准确完整的再现与传达。Cognitive linguistics views and interprets metaphors from a brand new perspective,and it promotes metaphor to one of human＇s cognition methods and a reasoning mechanism.Metaphor is a basic nature of human thinking and a cognitive means humans employ to feel,evaluate and interpret the unknown things through the things they have already known.The essence of metaphor is the mapping of the features of one item onto another item from the source domain to the target domain based on the similarities they share.Owing to the similarities and differences in the Chinese and English thinking and culture,metaphor as a tool for thinking and expression reflects the same or different cognitive features in the two cultures.Metaphor translation is a cross-cultural cognitive activity,it is in nature the mapping of the source language text onto the target language text.Metaphor translation should be cognitively-oriented,with a principle of achieving equal pragmatic effect.And the translator should adopt foreignization and domestication as his translation strategies according to the metaphorical process of the source metaphor,so that he may properly and completely recreate or express the metaphorical image in the source text.
